Just wanted to advertise a new blog that I’ve been reading and participating on… Reverence Bible Church (one of the churches that supports us here in Romania) has set up a blog collaborating with “The Blue Letter Bible” and are going through Spurgeon’s “Morning and Evening Devotional”

As Reverence Bible Church goes through this devotional together, they add  an extra devotional written by various brothers in the church. All are encouraged to add their own thoughts in the comments section…

So everyday after checking out this blog (and of course commenting 😉 ), go over there and Check out Spurgeons thoughts as well as theirs… Here is the Linkage!!! Reverence ‘n Awe Blog

“There is no healing a man till the law has wounded him, no making alive till the law has slain him.”

-C. H. Spurgeon

the-lawTruly if we never look into the mirror of the law, we will never see the ugliness of sin, and thus never see the need to become cleansed.

“Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith.”  –Galatians 3:24.

Have you been slain by the law? Have you seen that all your ways slander God’s Holy name? Until you see and understand this, you will never treasure Jesus. You will never understand his love and grace. You will never taste of salvation.

O God, open the eyes of the blind who see no need for the healing of their souls. Open their eyes to see the beauty of Christs love in dying for the sins of the world. May your holy law pierce their hearts and may they be drawn to the Savior.

J. C. Hahne

worldliness1As I previously said, I have started reading a book entitled “Worldliness” writen by C. J Mahaney and his gang of Sovereign Grace friends, and I wanted to share a few quotes that have shown me the importance of studying the topic of worldliness.

“Today, the greatest challenge facing American Evangelicals is not persecution from the world, but seduction by the world.” – C. J. Mahaney

“I believe… that one reason why the church of God at this present moment has so little influence over the world is because the world has so much influence over the church.” – C. H. Spurgeon

Indeed, the church is crippled by the lusts of the world, as its eyes have been taken off the cross of Christ.

Coming up next… the remedy!!! The Gospel!!

“If you can look on sin without sorrow then you have never looked on Christ.”

C. H. Spurgeon

“But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”

– Isaiah 53: 5-6

Okay… this is one of my all time favorite quotes…  It springs up so much joy in my heart when I meditate upon that which Christ has accomplished for me.

“Child of God, you cost Christ too much for Him to forget you.” – C. H. Spurgeon

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” Romans 8:32

If God did that which was hard in bruising; punishing His own Son, will He not do that which is easy in bringing us safely home?

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Cor 5:21
